Chronic voice problems require specialized care. Access to that care is critical. However, many living with limited spend an extraordinary amount of time trying to get connected to the resources that can help.
Some of the most common challenges faced are:
- Being mis-diagnosed
- An Inability to get insight from proper specialists
- Not receiving proper care at the onset up symptoms
- Experiencing the secondary impacts of psychological and emotional stress related to voice problems
The Association for Vocal Disorders works to provider better access to expertise by:
- Facilitating international forums for experts to share their findings
- Assisting patients in finding peer-reviewed providers within their geographical area
